Xia Hua (alias), female, born in 2003 in a typical family in Tongling, Anhui Province. In Xia Hua's childhood memories, her father was always working hard outside to support the family, while her mother took care of the household chores and raised her and her younger brother. The family of four was supposed to live a simple but happy life, but everything changed drastically with the arrival of an old woman in the winter of 2013.
This old lady somehow found out Xia Hua's home address and often came over when her father was busy working outside. She would continuously talk to Xia Hua's mother about things like the “prophecy of disasters” and repeatedly extol the benefits of believing in God. Sometimes, she would also tell young Xia Hua that “disasters are coming, and believing in God will save you,” or she would take out DVDs and lead Xia Hua to watch “Bible stories,” claiming it was for her enlightenment.
Family Indoctrination
During Xia Hua's growth, while other children of her age fell asleep each night to interesting bedtime stories, Xia Hua would hear her mother describe false events like the “Great Disaster” before bed; While other students watched various exciting cartoons on TV, Xia Hua was required by her mother to watch videos of so-called “Bible stories” altered by the Almighty God cult Organization; While other peers read books to learn knowledge, Xia Hua was required by her mother to repeatedly watch cult books and learn cult fallacies.
Her mother long indoctrinated her with cult content, telling stories of the so-called “deeds of God.” At the tender age of 10, Xia Hua's mind was not yet mature, and she could not discern whether her mother's words were right or wrong. However, out of love for her family and the desire for their “salvation,” she chose to start believing in Almighty God just like her mother.
Reduced into a Puppet
In 2021, Xia Hua was 18 years old. After years of indoctrination and immersion, Xia Hua went from being indifferent to formally believing in Almighty God. Under her mother's guidance, she began attending gatherings of the CAG believers. The person in charge of arranging the entire church's work, Dust (spiritual name), did not spare the naive Xia Hua. First, she was coerced into taking vows and writing a guarantee letter like her mother, swearing never to betray the organization or sell out the interests of the “House of God.” Otherwise, her family would fall into hell and suffer endless torment.
Eventually, Xia Hua followed the arrangements of the Almighty God Cult Organization, stopped attending school, and confined herself at home, wholeheartedly waiting for the instructions from God. Subsequently, Dust demanded that she spread the gospel to her peers, persuading them to join the CAG as well. Thus, Xia Hua began to frequently interact with some high school and college students of her age, spreading the so-called “gospel” to them.
Returned to the Right Path
In May 2023, Xia Hua was apprehended by the public security authorities while participating in illegal activities. After a month of patient education by anti-cult volunteers, Xia Hua finally woke up from the long-term mental control of the cult and clearly recognized the evil nature of Almighty God. She lamented that participating in Almighty God and long-term self-isolation had eroded her willpower, leaving her uninterested in everything and unable to focus on her studies. She felt that her most precious youthful years were wasted on such an illusory divine scam, and it was truly foolish. At the same time, Xia Hua felt deeply regretful and saddened for her mother, who had been obsessed with Almighty God for over 20 years.
With the care and help of community workers and anti-cult volunteers, the young Xia Hua regained her strength in life. She has now found a job, sharing some of the burden of supporting the family with her father, who bears the heavy responsibility of their livelihood. At the same time, she has actively cooperated with government departments and anti-cult volunteers to patiently persuade and educate her mother, hoping that her mother would wake up soon.
